Well yahoo for you!!  You found the only Easter Egg on the site.  (For all you newbies out there, an Easter Egg is a secret page on a website.)  Anyway, being the webmaster for the site, I wanted to set aside this page to give you a little insight into the decision making behind the club's logo.  It was a wild and crazy process having everyone vote on a logo.  After all, we all wanted cool t-shirts!

What does "First Coast" mean?

Naming the club was the easy part.  The whole area of northeast Florida is called the First Coast.  Since we wanted to reach people in Jacksonville and the surrounding area, we had to give it a familiar name for everyone around.

Some of the failed names for the club:

  • The River City Redliners (Jacksonville has a river through the middle of it.)
  • The Jacksonville Redliners
  • Northeast Florida Hot Wheels Club

Why a '32 Ford?

The name of the club was pretty easy to settle on compared to the club's actual logo.  Since I was in charge of all the graphics for just about everything, I got to use my creative license and come up with the stuff I really like.  The group wanted an old hot rod type car with something else to reflect that the club is in Florida.  Well I thought about it for a while, and I have always wanted a '32 Ford 3-window coupe.  I first fell in love with the '32 in the movie American Graffiti.  Now I know that Ford was a 5-window, but I personally like the three. <starting to daydream>  Well after much deliberation and over thirty different illustrations, we finally decided on a logo.  After all, it's hard to dream up all this stuff for each meeting!

Here are just some of the failed logos that were voted down...

You can see my eventual migration to the yellow '32 Ford.  But the real inspiration for the logo came from this picture, and as for me, that was all she wrote...

Look familiar?
